Empowering Change: Courage Equipment's Role in Fueling MATTER's Boxing Gym Initiative in Zimbabwe

Orphaned children in Victoria Falls now have a place to call home and a family to belong to. Zimbabwean Tobias Mupfuti and his wife, Shavai, despite their limited resources, take in the homeless children of Victoria Falls, caring for them as their own. Their small home, in the back of the Boxing Academy, is hardly large enough for the couple and their baby, so the kids sleep on worn mattresses in the only space available – under the boxing ring.

Amidst the challenges, MATTER carved a path of purposeful action. Their approach involved partnering with local communities, raising awareness through education campaigns, and fostering innovation to create sustainable solutions. One of their standout endeavors is the construction and furnishing of a brand new Boxing Academy facility and a home for Tobias and Shavai, as well as their Phase 2 plans to build and furnish a 40-bed Children’s Home. Their goal is for the revenue from the Boxing Academy to fund the ongoing operation of the Children’s Home.

Courage Equipment and The Power House were excited to get involved in this project. Together, we were able to donate a pallet of new and gently used fitness equipment and offer a large discount on additional brand new items.

Courage hopes to contribute further by hosting a fundraising event before the next shipment leaves for Zimbabwe this winter.
